METIS DRS 1220 DCS Plus

Powerful scanning performance in a compact format for the industrial décor market

The METIS DRS 1220 DCS Plus represents the perfect balance between a compact footprint and the advanced capabilities required for industrial and décor applications. Incorporating all the cutting-edge METIS technologies found in larger systems, including natural colour and appearance capturing, 3D data calculation, glossiness, and more, it delivers professional results without compromise.

With a scanning format of up to 126 x 69 cm (49.61 x 27.17 in), the DRS 1220 DCS Plus is the newest addition to the METIS DRS-DCS family. Built for professionals working with intricate materials and demanding workflows, it provides the precision, speed, and consistency needed to reproduce every detail faithfully, project after project.

Key Features of the METIS DRS 1220 DCS Plus:

  • Cutting-edge digital camera with 16K imaging sensor

Equipped with a state-of-the-art 16K imaging sensor, the DRS 1220 DCS Plus achieves a native optical resolution of up to 1200 PPI at 126 x 34.5 cm and 600 PPI at full scan format. The resolution can also be software-adjusted from 200 to 2400 PPI, providing outstanding clarity and versatility across different applications.

  • Advanced DC Synchrolight lighting system

The DRS-DCS scanning system comes with the new and improved DC Synchrolight lighting system updated to the latest LED technology with enhanced lighting power and colour rendering. The DC Synchrolight (Dynamically Controlled Synchronized Light) is a patent-protected METIS technology: 4 light sources (Standard) or 8 light sources (Plus).

METIS DC Synchrolight gives the ability to control and change dynamically, instantly and automatically the angle and intensity of the light emitted by the various light sources in the scanning area. This makes it possible to optimise the result of the digitisation, depending on the type and nature of the originals.

  • SuperScan mode & Light Inspector

The unique SuperScan mode, combined with the MDC file format, records all natural light schematics in a single acquisition. Using the METIS Light Inspector software, operators can generate multiple visual appearances without rescanning, dramatically streamlining the workflow while achieving results unmatched by other systems.

  • 3D data calculation with Photometric Stereo 3D

From the MDC SuperScan file, users can quickly generate dense and accurate 3D Depth Maps directly from 2D colour data. This capability supports advanced applications such as engraving, embossing, digital texturing, and PBR workflows, providing exceptional creative and industrial versatility.

  • Glossiness and PBR map generation

In addition to 3D Depth Maps, the system produces glossiness maps and a full range of PBR outputs, including Normal, Roughness, and Metalness maps. These tools allow accurate simulation, validation, and reproduction of material finishes for high-end industrial décor and creative industries.

  • Integrated METIS software suite

Delivered with a full suite of METIS software including Scan Director, Light Inspector, and Color Profiler, the DRS 1220 DCS Plus ensures a smooth, integrated workflow. Each program is user-friendly and fully compatible with the others, supporting fine art, décor, and industrial production needs.

  • Extendable scanning format with Scan Merge

The Scan Merge tool allows multiple captures to be seamlessly stitched together, expanding the scanning area beyond the standard 126 x 69 cm. This enables the digitisation of larger originals without compromising on accuracy or quality.

  • User-friendly and automated operation

The system automatically manages exposure, contrast, grey balance, and temperature stability, delivering consistent and reproducible results over time. Even novice operators can quickly master professional scanning thanks to its highly intuitive software interface.

  • High speed, accuracy, and durability

The DRS 1220 DCS Plus offers fast scanning speeds, precise colour reproduction, and ultra-high geometrical accuracy, making it suitable for both décor production and demanding technical applications such as cartography. Its robust design guarantees long-term reliability and performance.
